Also known as a plate, partial dentures deliver amazing oral health benefits as well as restoring the aesthetics of your smile.
Partial dentures, similar to complete dentures, are a prosthetic device that aim to fill in the gaps left by lost or missing teeth. The difference between complete dentures and partial dentures, however, is complete dentures are a full arch of dentures while partial dentures are attached to your remaining teeth using metal dental clasps (precision attachments).
The treatment is most suitable for patients who have lost a few teeth but still have remaining heathy teeth and a strong jawbone.
Similar to patients receiving complete dentures, partial denture patients are required to come in for an initial consultation, which one of our dentists will conduct a comprehensive oral examination to establish any underlying health concerns and confirm the patients’ candidacy for the treatment. For partial dentures, you may also need radiographs to evaluate whether your teeth are strong enough to support a denture.
We will then take an impression of your smile and send it to the dental lab for creation of the partial dentures. Once this process is complete, patients can come back into the practice for a denture fitting to ensure the partial denture fits comfortably between your other teeth and gums.
